Ziyad has built an extensive career at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, progressing through several academic and leadership positions. His journey includes serving as Assistant Professor of Health Economics and Clinical Outcomes Research, Associate Professor of Health Economics and Policy, Head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department, Executive Vice President of Applied College, and Dean of Development and Quality.

Alongside his academic leadership, he has contributed to the healthcare sector through roles with organizations including the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, SFDA – هيئة الغذاء والدواء, and Saudi Health Council – Saudi Arabia, supporting areas related to pharmacy licensure, pharmaceutical pricing, and national health economics.
