Abdulaziz Alaqel Appointed as Chief Development Officer at Expo 2030 Riyadh

Abdulaziz Alaqel has been appointed as Chief Development Officer at Expo 2030 Riyadh, bringing over two decades of experience in managing iconic, high-profile giga projects across infrastructure, sports, hospitality, and real estate sectors. Alaqel’s career is distinguished by his expertise in strategic leadership, master planning, engineering, governance, budget management, risk oversight, and feasibility study execution, consistently delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges while fostering productive relationships with stakeholders.

Prior to joining Expo 2030 Riyadh, he held senior leadership roles at Qiddiya | القدية, serving as Senior Executive Director of Development and Executive Director of Development, and contributed to national projects as Director at the National Transformation Program | برنامج التحول الوطني. Alaqel also spent nearly 18 years at aramco, where he honed his project management and engineering leadership skills across large-scale energy and industrial projects.

He holds a Double Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering & Telecommunications Engineering from Southern Methodist University and has completed the Breakthrough Program for Senior Executives at IMD, combining technical expertise with executive leadership acumen.
